About this film

Richard Linklater directs and produces this 2024 romantic crime comedy, which he co-wrote with star Glen Powell. Powell plays a mild-mannered professor who moonlights as a fake hitman for police stings, an arrangement that spins into trouble when he falls for a woman who approaches him as a client. The premise is drawn from a true story about a Houston-area professor who worked undercover for police in the late 1980s and 1990s, recounted in a 2001 article by Skip Hollandsworth.
