About this film

David Yates returns to direct this 2018 sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, again written by J.K. Rowling. Set in 1927, dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald escapes imprisonment and begins recruiting followers to his cause of elevating wizards above non-magical people. Albus Dumbledore, unable to confront Grindelwald directly himself, asks his former student Newt Scamander to help stop him. A sequel was announced in 2014, with Rowling confirming the finished script in 2016. The cast includes Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp.
