About this film

Felix van Groeningen directs this biographical drama, his English-language feature debut, based on two memoirs: David Sheff's Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction and his son Nic's Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines. Steve Carell plays David, a journalist trying to help his son, played by Timothee Chalamet, whose drug use escalates from experimentation to methamphetamine addiction. Maura Tierney and Amy Ryan appear in supporting roles.
