About this film

A Beautiful Mind, directed by Ron Howard and released in 2001, is based on Sylvia Nasar's 1998 biography of mathematician John Nash, who won a Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Russell Crowe plays Nash across his rise from a socially awkward but gifted graduate student to secret cryptography work that draws him into what he believes is a conspiracy, as the film follows the effect schizophrenia has on his career and relationships. It won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
