About this film

Christopher Nolan directs this science fiction thriller, co-written with his brother Jonathan and based on Christopher Priest's 1995 novel. Set in Victorian London, it stars Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as rival stage magicians locked in a competition to perfect a teleportation illusion, with Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, and Rebecca Hall in supporting roles. David Bowie appears as the inventor Nikola Tesla. The film reunited Nolan with Bale and Caine following their work together on Batman Begins the previous year.
