About this film

Francis Ford Coppola produces and directs this 1974 sequel and prequel to his own 1972 film The Godfather, loosely drawing on Mario Puzo's novel. One storyline follows Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino, as the new head of the Corleone family defending the business after an attempt on his life in 1958. The other traces his father Vito, played by Robert De Niro, from a childhood in Sicily to founding the family's enterprise in New York City. Robert Duvall and Diane Keaton also appear.
