About this film

Adam McKay directs this 2015 film, adapted with Charles Randolph from Michael Lewis's 2010 book. It follows a handful of investors, played by Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt, who each independently recognize that the US housing market is built on bad debt and bet against it before the 2008 financial crisis hits. The film traces how the housing bubble formed and how these investors profited from its collapse.
