About this film

Martin Scorsese directs this 1976 psychological drama, written by Paul Schrader and set in a New York City marked by urban decay after the Vietnam War. Robert De Niro plays Travis Bickle, an insomniac taxi driver whose mental state deteriorates across his nightly shifts, pushing him toward vigilante violence as he fixates on cleaning up the city. Jodie Foster and Cybill Shepherd also star. Bernard Herrmann composed the score, his last, finishing it hours before his death.
