About this film

George Lucas returns to directing for this 1999 film, his first since the original Star Wars, opening the prequel trilogy thirty-two years earlier. Liam Neeson's Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi protect Natalie Portman's Padme Amidala of Naboo during an interplanetary dispute. On Tatooine they discover Anakin Skywalker, a young slave strong with the Force, played by Jake Lloyd, while the Sith, who have returned, begin a plot of revenge against the Jedi.
