About this film

Shutter Island, directed by Martin Scorsese and released in 2010, adapts Dennis Lehane's 2003 novel. Leonardo DiCaprio plays U.S. Marshal Edward Teddy Daniels, who travels with his partner Chuck to a psychiatric facility on a fictional island in Boston Harbor to investigate a missing patient, only for troubling visions to complicate the case. Development began after Phoenix Pictures acquired the rights directly from Lehane, and the finished film leans on a classical score built from composers including Gustav Mahler and György Ligeti.
