About this film

Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson direct this 2001 animated film, the first in the Shrek series and loosely based on William Steig's 1990 picture book. Mike Myers voices Shrek, an ogre whose swamp is overrun by fairy tale creatures banished by the ruler Lord Farquaad, voiced by John Lithgow. Shrek strikes a deal with Farquaad, agreeing to rescue Princess Fiona, voiced by Cameron Diaz, in exchange for getting his swamp back, with Eddie Murphy's Donkey along for the trip.
