About this film

Damien Chazelle writes and directs this musical romance, starring Ryan Gosling as a struggling jazz pianist and Emma Stone as an aspiring actress, both chasing their ambitions in Los Angeles while their relationship grows increasingly strained by the demands of success. John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, and J.K. Simmons appear in supporting roles. Chazelle first conceived the project with composer Justin Hurwitz at Harvard, and Summit Entertainment picked it up following the success of his earlier film, Whiplash.
