About this film

Harry Potter has lived under the stairs at his aunt and uncle's house until his eleventh birthday brings news that he is a wizard with a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Chris Columbus directs this 2001 adaptation of J.K. Rowling's first novel, released in the United States as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. As Harry learns to use his powers under the school's headmaster, he uncovers what happened to his parents. Warner Bros. Pictures bought the film rights in 1999.
