About this film

Henry Hill, half Irish and half Sicilian, is taken in by neighborhood gangsters as a boy in Brooklyn and rises through a Mafia family under Jimmy Conway's guidance, across events from 1955 to 1980, in this 1990 film directed by Martin Scorsese. Scorsese adapted the screenplay with Nicholas Pileggi from Pileggi's 1985 nonfiction book Wiseguy. Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, and Joe Pesci star, drawing on Pileggi's research, and Scorsese let the cast improvise during rehearsals.
