About this film

Tim Burton directs this 2005 musical fantasy, adapted by John August from Roald Dahl's 1964 novel. Freddie Highmore plays Charlie Bucket, a boy who wins a contest along with four other children for a tour of the chocolate factory run by the reclusive Willy Wonka, played by Johnny Depp. Helena Bonham Carter, David Kelly, Noah Taylor, Missi Pyle, and Christopher Lee also star. Warner Bros. Pictures had held development rights since 1991, giving the Dahl estate full creative control.
