About this film

Denis Villeneuve directs this science fiction drama, adapted by Eric Heisserer from Ted Chiang's 1998 novella Story of Your Life. Amy Adams plays linguist Louise Banks, recruited by the United States Army after alien spacecraft appear at sites around the world, before rising tensions push nations toward war. Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, and Michael Stuhlbarg appear in supporting roles. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2016 before its American release that November.
