About this film

American Psycho (2000) follows Patrick Bateman, a wealthy New York investment banker played by Christian Bale who leads a double life as a serial killer. Mary Harron directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Guinevere Turner, adapting Bret Easton Ellis's 1991 novel. The film blends psychological horror with black comedy to satirize the yuppie culture and consumerism of 1980s Wall Street. Producer Edward R. Pressman bought the film rights in 1992, years before the project reached the screen.
