About this film

Marc Webb's 2009 romantic comedy-drama, his feature directorial debut, stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom, a greeting-card writer caught off guard when his girlfriend Summer, played by Zooey Deschanel, ends their relationship. Told in a nonlinear structure, the film follows Tom as he looks back over their 500 days together trying to understand what went wrong. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber wrote the script, and Fox Searchlight Pictures picked up the independent production, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
