About this book

Alexandre Dumas published this French historical adventure novel in 1844, working with ghostwriter Auguste Maquet. Set between 1625 and 1628, it follows the young d'Artagnan, a character loosely based on the real soldier Charles de Batz-Castelmore d'Artagnan, as he travels to Paris hoping to join the Musketeers of the Guard. Unable to join the elite corps right away, he befriends its three most formidable members, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis.
