About this book

Jonathan Swift's 1726 satirical novel, originally titled Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World, recounts the four voyages of ship's surgeon Lemuel Gulliver. In Lilliput, Gulliver towers over a miniature society and views it almost as a god would. In Brobdingnag, a land of giants, he is the small one, put on display as a curiosity. The book satirizes human nature and the travel-writing genre of its time, and it introduced the word Lilliput into popular language.
