About this book

Divergent, Veronica Roth's debut novel, published in 2011, is set in a post apocalyptic Chicago divided into five factions, Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite, each built around a single virtue. At sixteen, Beatrice Prior must choose which faction to join for life, and picks one that surprises her family and herself, renaming herself Tris. Training alongside fellow initiates, she keeps a secret that could get her killed as she starts to sense a growing unrest that threatens her city's fragile order.
