About this book

Suzanne Collins continues the story of seventeen-year-old Katniss Everdeen in this second book of the Hunger Games trilogy. Having won the annual Games alongside Peeta Mellark by defying its rules, Katniss finds that victory has not brought the safety she expected. Their act of defiance has made them symbols of a rebellion building against the Capitol, and Panem's rulers respond by placing their families in danger. Scholastic published the novel in September 2009, and a film adaptation followed in 2013.
