About this book

F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel is narrated by Nick Carraway, who describes his neighbor Jay Gatsby, a wealthy and mysterious man determined to win back his former lover, Daisy Buchanan. Set on Long Island during the Jazz Age, the story draws on Fitzgerald's own youthful romance with Ginevra King and the parties he attended on the North Shore in 1922. He drafted the novel in 1924 after moving to the French Riviera, then revised it with editor Maxwell Perkins.
